A conversion of unused and abandoned agricultural barns into a single family home in the countryside.
The project re-purposes an old cattle shed, horse stable and hay bale barn to create a super sustainable, open-plan and high tech home in the countryside. The existing structure has been retained, solar panels, air-source heat pumps and electrical battery storage help power the home. Continuous passive ventilation, deep reveals for solar shading and a balancing pond help future-proof against the effects of climate change. UK sourced timber and pre-fabricated insulated metal panels create a striking yet familiar appearance in the rural setting.
Construction was completed on site in January 2023.
The project has been nominated for 'Refurb Project' in the Architects Journal Awards 2023.
